Have These Brands Gone Too Far On Twitter?

Hats Off To Arby’s & Pharrell

When Pharrell attended the Grammy’s in 2014, people were quick to take notice of his now infamous brown Vivienne Westwood hat. The hat started to trend on social media and Arby’s, taking notice that the hat looked very similar to the one in their logo, quickly joined in on the fun saying, “Hey @Pharrell, can we have our hat back?” Pharrell responded in good humor with a delightful deli meat pun asking, “Y’all tryna start a roast beef?”

The hat became so popular that someone even made a Twitter account (@PharrellsHat), which is still active to this day. Pharrell ended up auctioning the hat off on eBay, where it sold for $44,100. The buyer? Arby’s! Pharrell thanked them, saying that the proceeds benefitted a charity called From One Hand to AnOTHER, which provides educational resources for underprivileged children.
