Where The Rich And Famous Go For Holiday Getaways
When “normal” people begin to plan their vacation destinations, sites like Florida and Mexico spring to mind. Tropical scenery, temperate climates, and hot sandy beaches sound like a perfect escape from the 9-to-5 grind.
When the rich go on holiday, however, they tend to shun those overcrowded and touristy mainstays, and instead head for places much more private and exclusive. Places that most of us will only ever dream of visiting.
Seychelles
Our first dream vacation today is Seychelles. Off the coast of the Indian Ocean in East Africa, this collection of 115 different islands is home to some of the most stunning flora and fauna in the world. From gorgeous beaches to coral reefs and exotic wild animals, Seychelles offers jet-setters an experience that’s truly off the beaten path, and is a favorite destination of celebrities of Prince William and Duchess Kate (need we say more?), George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin, and Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade.
St. Mortitz
Another must-visit vacation for the rich and famous is St. Moritz. A luxury resort village in Switzerland, St. Moritz happens to be the most expensive ski resort in the world, making it a favorite winter getaway for the elite classes. With over 300 days of sunshine each year, this charming Swiss escape provides winter sun and fun for those looking to escape everyday life for a bit. Visitors might encounter frequent visitors Liz Hurley, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, or Robert De Niro while they stay in St. Moritz.
Rajasthan, India
India can be a land of shocking contrasts. Stark poverty abuts stunning displays of wealth, but the wealthy, developed areas of India have become an exclusive destination for well-heeled jetsetters, and the 50-acre Oberoi Udaivilas resort in Rajasthan was once been named “the world’s best hotel” by a TripAdvisor poll. The location, a 50-acre luxury accommodation complete with top-of-the-line everything, ferries guests in via private boats. Wild peacocks and other unique animals wander the manicured landscapes, and guests can truly relax in the serenity of this blissful and beautiful location.
Lake Como
Many people do prefer a waterfront scene for their vacations, and Lake Como, set in the foothills of the Italian Alps, provides secluded lake access to its visitors. George Clooney and his gorgeous wife Amal have a villa there, and the surrounding resort town has provided other celebrities such as John Kerry, Madonna, Gianni Versace, and Julian Lennon with luxury holiday experiences. Lake Como has been a hot commodity for the elite since Roman times.
Necker Island
This final luxury destination might be a bit more challenging to score a reservation with, but if you ever get the chance, don’t turn down a visit to Necker Island. Owned by billionaire business mogul Richard Branson, the 74-acre island is snuggled within the Caribbean British Virgin Isles. The resort can accommodate up to 28 guests at a time. You’ll be in fabulous company if you do score an invite from Mr. Branson himself: Prince Harry, Princess Diana, Kate Winslet, and Tony Blair are all known to have stayed there.
