These Female Icons Are Dominating TV Screens Once Again
Now: Allison Janney Is A Quick-Witted, Dysfunctional Mom
After Janney’s time on The West Wing, she made a departure to film and voice acting, but continued to rack up the awards. Janney voiced characters in the hit animated series Phineas and Ferb as well as the Disney film Finding Dory; however, she found the most success in the blockbuster hits The Help and Hair Spray and a guest role on the TV drama Masters of Sex. Between the three roles she raked in a number of Critics’ Choice Awards and SAG awards, as well as another Emmy.
In 2014, Janney made her TV comeback. She snagged a starring role in the sitcom Mom, where she plays Bonnie, a dysfunctional mother living with her broke adult daughter. Her portrayal landed her two Primetime Emmys.
