Claire Danes launched her acting career when she was just 15 years old. The actress gained a cult following after starring in the sole season of My So-Called Life, a ’90s high school drama that broke boundaries by showing a real, gritty teenage experience. The show covered multiple taboo topics like sex and homosexuality in a way that was heartfelt, insightful and arguably more relatable than any TV depiction of high school before it. In 1995, Danes won a Golden Globe for her role as the show’s indecisive, fire-haired protagonist Angela Chase. Two years later, she starred in Romeo + Juliet, which landed her an MTV Movie Award among others.
