Mayim Bialik got her start by landing a role as a young Bette Midler in the 1988 drama Beaches, but quickly found TV stardom when she was a teen. Bialik’s portrayal of Blossom Russo, a spunky, hat-loving teenager with an unconventional family, truly made Blossom one of the ’90s most iconic sitcoms. Before it was cancelled in 1991, after six years on the air, it still netted an average of 11 million viewers an episode. Bialik slowed down only filming a number of cameos and minor roles while she pursued other endeavors. The actress got married in 2003 and pursued a degree in Neuroscience with minors in Hebrew and Jewish studies, emerging from higher education with a PhD, but that wasn’t the end of her acting career.
