Yeah, that last one might hit too close to home, but it's still a good flick! Keep scrolling to see some of the best pandemic movies available on streaming services.
The Bay
The Bay is a horror film that takes place in a small seaside community in Maryland. And while that sounds lovely and relaxing, it is anything but. The film follows the residents of the town as they become the unfortunate hosts of a waterborne parasite, something no one has seen before.
The mutation controls the minds and bodies of the townspeople. So, the town pretty much turns into a community of zombies. Are you interested to see what happens to the town and the people? We don't blame you; it sounds like a crazy plotline. The film is available on Hulu.
Carriers
The horror film Carriers, starring Chris Pine, Piper Perabo, and Emily VanCamp, is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think running away from a virus with your friends is the best option, this film will prove otherwise. The movie follows two brothers, Danny and Brian, as they travel across a Southwestern desert with their friends, Bobby and Kate, and try to outrun a virus wiping out humanity.
The only issue is that they soon realize the demons in themselves might prove deadlier than any virus. We're going to stop there. If you want to find out what happens to the four friends, you're going to have to stream Carriers on Netflix.
28 Days Later
If you're into zombie films, then you're going to want to watch 28 Days Later. Director Danny Boyle's movie is said to have reinvented the zombie genre, creating fast-moving creatures instead of the slower ones people were accustomed to. The film follows Jim, a bicycle courier who wakes up from a coma to find the entire city of London deserted.
Now, he has to figure out what happened and stay clear of those who have the Rage virus. With the help of a few fellow survivors, does Jim have what it takes to get rescued? 28 Days Later can be found on Hulu!
Train to Busan
Fair warning, Train to Busan, is said to be a captivating horror film that is nothing short of tragic. The South Korean film follows the tale of a father and his young daughter as they board a train to Busan to visit the child's mother.
Unfortunately, a zombie apocalypse suddenly occurs in the country, and even though the passengers on the bullet train aren't at risk right away, that quickly changes. The film has been critically praised and is a must-see for any zombie-movie enthusiast. Train to Busan is available to stream on Netflix.
World War Z
World War Z is full of Brad Pitt glamour shots, sorry, we mean action shots, and zombies -- the perfect combination for people who need a thriller but still want something nice to look at. The film follows Pitt's character, U.N. Investigator Gerry Lane, as he searches for the source of the single-bite zombie infection and a way to, hopefully, stop it from spreading.
Do you think Pitt can find a cure before humanity falls into a Zombie-run world? There's only one way to find out! Be sure to stream World War Z on Hulu to get all of the answers.
Contagion
Right now, this movie is on a lot of people's lips because of how alarmingly similar it is to humanity's present situation. Contagion follows Beth, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, a businesswoman who just returned home from a trip to Hong Kong. Two days later, she's dead, and no one knows why.
Suddenly, a worldwide pandemic explodes, something no one was ready for. The issue gets worse when doctors try to contain the problem, and a blogger stokes the flames of the public paranoia. Are you interested to see how a fictional world deals with this hits-close-to-home issue? Contagion is available to be streamed from the Hulu platform.
Outbreak
In the 1995 thriller Outbreak, an African monkey is brought into the United States carrying with it a lethal virus that causes an outbreak all over a California town. The film follows the story of a contagious disease expert, played by Dustin Hoffman, and his ex-wife, played by Rene Russo.
While the two settle their differences for the good of the townsfolk, the Army intervenes, taking away their ability to handle the situation. Without time on their side, will the doctors be able to go behind the military's back to save their town? Outbreak is available for streaming on Netflix.
I Am Legend
If you didn't see the iconic movie that is I am Legend when it was released in theaters back in 2007, then you're in for a treat! Will Smith plays a brilliant scientist who just so happens to be one of the survivors of a man-made plague that wiped out 90 percent of all living things.
The result of the plague? Mutant zombies called Darkseekers. The film follows Smith around Manhattan as he tries to find other survivors and, if he's lucky, a cure. Does he have enough time to find a cure before Earth is lost? Watch the film on iTunes or Amazon Prime to find out!

The Girl With All the Gifts
In a world that is overrun by cannibalistic zombies, it's up to immune children to shape the destiny of humanity. The Maze Runner Franchise
The Maze Runner trilogy is based on three dystopian novels written by Wes Ball. Keep in mind there are three movies to get through, so you're going to want to make sure you're mentally prepared for all of the twists and turns this franchise brings to the table! The Maze Runner films can be streamed on iTunes and Amazon Prime.
Season Of The Witch
Bear with us as we explain the excellence that is Season of the Witch, starring Nic Cage and Ron Perlman. This epic tale follows Behman, a knight who finally journeys home after the Crusades. Only, when he returns, everything is different. The Black Plague has ravaged the town, even contaminating the church and the cardinal.
The dying cardinal has one final wish, though -- for the knights to transport a witch to a remote abbey where monks can destroy her powers. That doesn't go as smoothly as planned, and the girl awakens evil forces. We know you can't say no to this film, which is on Netflix and Hulu.
Warm Bodies
With all of the bleak and horror-inspired pandemic and zombie films, it's good to know there are some comedies in the mix. Warm Bodies explores the concept of zombies being able to feel human emotion, even though they attack the human population. The story follows a zombie named R, as he embarks on an unorthodox relationship with a human girl named Julie.
The good news is that their relationship, although frowned upon, might be the key to saving humanity and those already infected by the plague. Warm Bodies can be found for your streaming pleasure on both iTunes and Amazon Prime.

Now, she and her friends have to sing, slash, and fight their way to survival. The only issue is that civilization is falling apart, and they're having a hard time relying on anyone but each other. See what happens to Anna and her friends in this musical-comedy-zombie drama on Hulu.

Night of the Comet follows the story of two teen sisters, Samantha and Regina, as they try to find other survivors.
But there's a problem. Since there were so few survivors, doctors are after them in hopes of experimenting on their bodies to find a cure. So, they are now running from both the living and the dead. Is there a way to make it out alive? Night of the Comet is now available on Amazon Prime.
The Faculty
Get ready for one wild ride at Harrington High with The Faculty. As it turns out, the faculty has been infecting students with an alien parasite.
Now, it's up to the non-infected students to rid their school of the unwelcome invaders. The question is, are they capable of taking on adults who are hosts to aliens? The only way to find out is to watch the movie on iTunes or Amazon Prime.
Perfect Sense
If you're interested in watching a romance/drama that happens to have a viral pandemic component included, then you're going to want to watch Perfect Sense. The film follows a shy scientist, played by Eva Green, and a womanizing chef, played by Ewan McGregor.

You haven't seen anything yet! See how this romantic tragedy meets its end on either iTunes, Prime, or Youtube.
Daybreakers
While a majority of pandemic movies result in a zombie apocalypse, let's not forget about the problematic vampire issue. In Daybreakers, a majority of Earth's population has turned into vampires after the outbreak of a plague. And while everyone lived in peace, for the most part, there is now a blood shortage.
It's up to a doctor who specializes in the study of vampire blood to develop a blood substitute. But when two human fugitives come to him with a possible cure, he throws the substitute to the wind in hopes of developing a permanent solution.
