From Books To Broadway

The direct source for The Sound of Music film was the 1959 Broadway musical, with music by the iconic composers/lyricists Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. Hammerstein died in 1960, so he never saw the film, but his work is still heard throughout the famous musical.

It’s fair to say that the movie was also made even more famous by the music that defined it (via Rodgers and Hammerstein)! The film’s soundtrack is a fan favorite.
