After Scrubs’ seventh season, the show had major changes going on. One of the biggest things it did was switch networks, moving from NBC to ABC. Subsequently, the eighth season was supposed to be the last for this series but the new network wanted to give the show more time. The majority of the actors’ contracts were expiring so only Donald Faison and John McGinley returned full-time for the ninth season. Zach Braff made some guest appearances for a few episodes but then he just stopped appearing. At this point, the network was not happy with the ratings and ended the show.
