Would you rather your favorite character from a show just up and leave or announce beforehand that he or she will no longer be on the show? Well, in 2015, Nina Dobrev told her fans via Instagram that she would be departing Vampire Diaries once the sixth season came to an end.

She was put in a coma in the show so at least they had a decent reason for her leaving. The producers could have just snipped her out without warning or explanation. The show continued on for two more seasons afterward, with Dobrev making an appearance in the finale.
