The Followill brothers, and their cousin Matthew, formed Kings of Leon in 1999. The band actually named themselves after their grandfather Leo.

The band received critical acclaim from their second album Aha Shake Heartbreak and the single “The Bucket”. Since then, the band founded their own record label company, Serpents and Snakes Records.
