A four-piece quartet from Denver took their name from the Russian word deochka, meaning girl, and became DeVotchKa.

The group played a variety of instruments from the theremin to the bouzouki to the accordion. They got their start as a backing band for burlesque shows and toured with Dita Von Teese.

The band coming up made sure to honor their grandfather, Leo, when naming their group.
