If the single “1901” rings a bell, you might know the band Phoenix. The indie-pop group from Versailles, France, started out as a garage band out of lead singer Thomas Mars’ house.

The band formed in 1999 thanks to the two members of the band who are brothers — Laurent and Christian Mazzalai.
