Many consider Jimi Hendrix to be one of the most talented and innovative guitar players to have ever lived. At the end of his life, Jimi was involved in a tumultuous relationship with a girlfriend named Monika Danneman, although the relationship was not his only one. He engaged in both drinking and the taking various drugs which ultimately culminated in his untimely death at just 27 years old. Jimi was also a close friend of The Animals singer Eric Burdon. Eric actually arrived at the scene of Jimi’s death and found the last known poem the musician ever wrote which was entitled “The Story of Life.” The nature of its contents led Eric to believe that his friend had committed suicide although it is now widely believed that Jimi’s death was accidental. The last stanza of the poem Jimi wrote was, “The story of life is quicker than the wink of an eye. The story of love is hello and goodbye. Until we meet again.”
