Tig Notaro’s deadpan stand-up style first became known to the general public in 2011 when she released her debut album, Good One. In 2012, she performed on Conan and This American LIfe.
The same year, Tig was diagnosed with cancer in both of her breasts. She addressed her recent diagnosis, other health issues, and her mother’s recent passing in a tragic-comic live stage show at Largo in L.A. Her ability to turn harsh truth into comedy has garnered much praise from audiences and fellow comedians. Her Amazon show, One Mississippi, follows a fictionalized version of Tig following her mother’s death and her double mastectomy.
