Saturday Night Live got lucky when they snagged Tina Fey. Fey worked on the NBC sketch comedy series from 1997 through 2006. She began her stint at SNL as a writer but was promoted to head writer in 1999. In 2000, while acting as SNL‘s first female head writer, Fey began performing in sketches and eventually became the co-host of the Weekend Update segment.

After she left SNL, Tina Fey created and starred in 30 Rock, a television show that fictionalizes her experience as a head writer on a sketch comedy show. Fey added the AP Entertainer of the Year award to her many accolades in 2010, making her the youngest ever recipient of that award.
