Grace Jones Quits New Bond Film After A Few Minutes On Set
With each passing day, the troubles linked with the latest upcoming Bond film seem to increase. Ever since the production company Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer announced its most recent installment, it feels like the filming process has become cursed. And heading into July 2019, you can add another issue with this Bond adaptation.
For a movie that already lost its original director, Danny Boyle, you would think the rest of the crew would be keen to ensure nothing else could go wrong. That wasn't the case as unpredictable events developed, but the latest mishap didn't need to happen. A few weeks after their most recent setback of "controlled explosions" that injured crew members, the film lost a unique character the producers were excited to have.
Grace Jones, who acted in the past 007 film A View to a Kill, walked away from the movie after just minutes on the set. She played the iconic villain May Day in 1985, and her homecoming was a big deal to everyone involved.
Jones expected to have a more significant role, but she found out the hard way that they only gave her a few lines.
A source said, "Of course, she comes with a reputation, so they organized premium accommodation and rolled out the red carpet on set to make her feel welcome. But it turns out Grace was expecting to play a bigger role in the movie and took her brief cameo as a slight. She was out of there quicker than it takes to rustle up a martini."
A month before the explosions, Bond 25 suffered another setback when star Daniel Craig injured ankle ligaments. He would return on set, but with a boot. More outraged ensued when directorial replacement Cary Fukunaga skipped filming day to play video games. With all of this chaos surrounding Bond 25, it's still scheduled to release on April 3, 2020.
