Scott Speedman: Then and Now

Canadian Scott Speedman was cast as Ben Covington on Felicity. In the show, Felicity forgoes a pre-med education at Stanford to follow Ben to New York. In real life, Scott sent a taped audition to creator JJ Abrams. He almost immediately got on a plane to head to Hollywood, and was also immediately offered the part; he began shooting only three days later.

Ben’s father in the show is played by the late John Ritter, their characters are shown to have a lot of conflicts. In real life, Scott Speedman has gone on to have a variety of roles in both TV and film, most notably the Underworld series alongside Kate Beckinsale. Most recently, he made a return to television in the TNT network series Animal Kingdom, which is a drama about a criminal family.
