Part of growing up includes a kind of fear of the other gender. However, Spanky McFarland from The Little Rascals took that fear and turned it into a palpable hatred. He was the president and founder of the He-Man Woman Haters Club, a male-only organization based on the dislike of girls where boys shared their most recent run-ins with the opposite gender in a clan-like forum.

Spanky also patronizes his best friend Alfalfa for becoming romantically involved with a girl. Upon discovering Alfalfa’s secret, he does everything in his power to ruin their relationship, not a very friendly thing to do. Although Spanky realizes that he was wrong in the end, that’s rarely the takeaway that boys get from the story.

Happy Gilmore is a comedy until you realize that Happy has some major issues.
