In the 1989 romantic comedy-drama Say Anything…, John Cusack’s character Lloyd Dobler is the kick-boxing teenager who scored the best girl in school by taking a risk and listening to his emotions. Girls want to find a guy like him, and boys want to be like him. However, he has some attitude and respect issues that need to be sorted out.

When he goes over to Diane’s, he doesn’t know how to act as a guest and gives the wrong message of how to speak to a girl’s father. He is outspoken and disrespectful, which is hard to overlook regardless of his deeds. Although he’s a pretty nice guy, he’s not the best teacher of how to act with another person’s family.
