The heroic Power Rangers of the 1990s were less noble than initially perceived if you caught the subtle racism sprinkled throughout the show. Although some kids might not have noticed, the Black Ranger was the hip-hop guy and an African-American actor. Also, the Yellow Ranger, who was Asian, was a bad driver. This fed into the stereotype about Asians’ driving abilities.

Although the show’s creators claimed this was all coincidental, it’s a little hard to believe. So, you have to ask yourself if superheroes based on racial stereotypes are who you want your kids to look up to.
