After Internet Infamy, Where Are These Viral Celebs Now?
Rebecca Black Makes Friday Feel Like A Monday
In 2011, Rebecca Black recorded the song “Friday”, in an attempt to break into the music scene. Her mother went on to pay $4,000 to hire ARK Music Factory to produce a music video for the song. The single, “Friday”, was written entirely by ARK and was uploaded to YouTube and iTunes.
After not much activity for over a month, the video suddenly went viral. However, the attention it was receiving was not positive by any means. It was being described as “the worst song in the world,” and while the song is undoubtedly catchy, it’s still annoying earning over 3,190,000 dislikes. Yet, it was named YouTube’s No. 1 video of 2011 with over 167 million views in the first four months.
