A few years ago, NASA detected an asteroid heading towards earth, scheduled for arrival in 2019. Movie fans everywhere knew this plot too well from the movie Armageddon. The only hope was going to be a rag tag group of oil drillers with personal problems and no space training.

Since the news broke, NASA has confirmed that there is an infinitesimal chance the asteroid crashes down on our planet. What's actually going to happen is it's going to pass by, staying at a safe distance of about 2.6 million miles.

A lot of iconic musicians are calling it quits in 2019. The two biggest are KISS and Elton John. Both made major announcements so their fans would know that this would be the last hurrah. For KISS, its the "One Last Kiss" tour while John has named his tour, "Farewell, Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour."

Elton John's tour actually began in September 2018, but the bulk of his 300-show swan song will be taking place after the clock strikes midnight. After 2019 ends, John will wrap up the tour in the United Kingdom, finally hanging up his glasses on December 16, 2020.

The Handmaid's Tale is a wild success streaming on Hulu. It's become so popular that you might realize it was actually based a book originally published in 1985. The author, Margaret Atwood, announced at the end of 2018 that a sequel, The Testaments, will come out next year.

The new book will take place 15 years after the events of the original. It will not follow the same trajectory as the show but it was partially inspired by its success. Atwood said she was mostly inspired by "the world we've been living in."
