They Overcame Rocky Childhoods
50 Cent’s Childhood
50 Cent never met his father because he left before he was born. He grew up in the harsh streets of South Jamaica Queens, New York with his mom until he was eight years old. At the time, his mother was killed and he was forced to go live with his grandparents.
At the age of 12, he started to deal hard drugs and got caught one day for selling to an undercover cop. After getting out of going prison and having to do an incarceration boot camp instead, that is when he came up with the name 50 Cent because “it says everything I want it to say. I provide for myself by any means.”
