When it came to politics, Hawking was a long-time member of the Labour Party. In 2000, he recorded a tribute to the presidential candidate Al Gore. He has also called the 2003 invasion of Iraq a war crime, supported the academic boycott of Israel, campaigned for nuclear disarmament, supported stem cell research and universal health care, and raised awareness for climate change.

Hawking also made it clear that he thought Donald Trump’s policies regarding global warming are dangerous and could cause irreversibly damaging effects on the earth.
