Hawking On Science And Philosophy

When it comes to philosophy and science, Hawking had some very firm beliefs regarding the relationship between the two. At the Google Zeitgeist in 2011, Hawking claimed that “philosophy is dead,” that “philosophers have not kept up with modern developments in science,” and that scientists “have become the bearers of the torch of discovery and knowledge”.

He also went on to claim that we can now solve philosophical problems by using science and that modern-day science has given us a clear idea of our place in the universe more than philosophical discussion ever has.
