He Developed the Nuclear Threat Initiative and is Opposed to Weapons of Mass Destruction

In 2001, Ted and former U.S. Senator Sam Nunn created the Nuclear Threat Initiative, whose goal is to prevent the use of weapons of mass destruction as well as prevent nuclear, biological, radiological, chemical, and cyber events. Ted’s biggest concern is the use of nuclear weapons, and if he had his way they’d all be destroyed.

He once compared having the weapons to having “dynamite in your basement.” Ted is also anti-war. He told CNN in 2015, “It’s time to put war behind us. We’ve made enough progress to where we can say goodbye to war.”
