Ted bought the Atlanta Braves, a major league baseball team, in 1976. The following year he purchased the Atlanta Hawks professional basketball team. Ted loved being involved with his sports teams. At one point, he made himself interim manager of the Braves before being ordered by the National League president to step down.
In the mid-’80s, Ted stepped back a bit and let operations staff handle the team’s day-to-day activities. The Braves won the World Series in 1995 when Ted was the owner. Time Warner took control of the braves following its merger wither Turner Broadcasting. They sold the team to Liberty Media in 2007.
Will we see Ted run for president?
