Now on her own, Stewart started her own catering business, Martha Stewart Inc., and became the manager of a local market whose business flourished because of her (though her overbearing personality forced her out before she opened her own shop). Still, Martha Stewart’s business pursuits continued to soar as her catering business even earned her a reputation among celebrities and wealthy folk who became her clients. At this point, she began pitching stories of her work to local newspapers, which added to her popularity. She also began contributing articles to magazines such as Good Housekeeping, House Beautiful, and Country Living.
