In March 2004, Martha Stewart was found guilty of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and lying to federal investigators and was subsequently sentenced to five months in prison followed by five months on house arrest, in addition to paying a $30,000 fine. Stewart served her sentence at the Alderson Federal Prison Camp in West Virginia where her prison nickname was M. Diddy, according to a report by CBS News. In 2005, she also told reporters that she is sorry about the “chaos” her prosecution caused, but also said, “I’m on appeal. You don’t appeal if you think you should be sorry.”
