Williams Was Heartbroken When John Belushi Died

Comedian John Belushi was a good friend of Robin Williams, and the two became entangled in drugs together. One night in 1982, Belushi was on an all-night binge while staying at the Chateau Marmont Hotel on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.

Friends of his, including Robin Williams, Robert De Niro, and Catherine Evelyn Smith all stopped by in the early hours of the morning. They were drinking, and there was also heroin and cocaine. Together, those drugs become speedball and it can be a lethal combination. The next morning, Belushi was found dead from combined drug intoxication and fingers were pointed at the friends who were involved, including Williams. He also became depressed.
