After a short marriage and divorce to clothing designer Maria Souza, Laird met professional volleyball player Gabrielle Reece. Laird says of when he met her, “It was love at first conversation.” Gabrielle is also a sports announcer and was sent to interview Laird. He had no idea she was also a professional athlete and was blown away by her intelligence.

They married in 1997 and became a power couple in the fitness world. Like Laird, Gabrielle also carried a modeling career alongside being a professional volleyball player. She’s posed for top magazines including Playboy and was named one of the five most beautiful women in the world by Elle in1989.
