Is it surprising that the Sex Pistols would reject one of rocks biggest accolades? Not in the least. The band rose to fame in London’s ‘70s punk scene, and often credited as one of the driving forces behind modern day punk. The self-proclaimed anarchists have raked up important awards including an induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame and three 1977 NME awards for God Save The Queen — but they’ve always been difficult.

Rejecting the status quo was their whole schtick, and they reveled in winning NME’s [Expletive] of the Year Award. They caused a generation of suburban moms to clutch their pearls so tight, the pearl industry probably saw record sales. Apparently, this attitude spilled over into 2006.
