Chopped Takes All Day To Film

It may seem like the chefs on Chopped are only there for the duration of 42-minutes, but they’re actually there all day. Each episode takes upwards of 12 hours to film. The chefs arrive at around 6 A.M. and depending on how long they last, they could be staying past 8 P.M.

Aside from the cooking rounds, time is set aside for commentary and resetting for each round. The judge’s deliberations can take up to an hour and a half! Time really adds up on the set of Chopped. Speaking of which, how do you think they come up with those weird mystery ingredients?
