Beyoncé Claims Blue Ivy Is A “Cultural Icon”
We all know Beyoncé and Jay-Z are cultural icons, but is their daughter, Blue Ivy, automatically a cultural icon by association? They seem to think so. The superstar mom is in a trademark battle surrounding her daughter's name.
The artist has been fighting wedding planner Wendy Morales over the trademark "Blue Ivy." Morales claims she was using the name first and has blocked Beyoncé's attempt to trademark it. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Beyoncé even goes as far to call her daughter a "cultural icon" and "mini style star".
"The Opposition, which claims that consumers are likely to be confused between a boutique wedding event planning business and Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of two of the most famous performers in the world, is frivolous and should be refused in its entirety," said the documents.
She goes on to clarify that she is looking to trademark "Blue Ivy Carter" and that the inclusion of Carter identifies Blue as a celebrity, and not the event planning business. If Morales doesn't want the Beyhive to wreak havoc, we'd suggest letting this one go...
