Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were set up on a blind date in 2016 by a mutual friend. Meghan's American upbringing is attributed to her naivete of the Royal Family. "I didn't know much about him, so the only thing I asked... was, 'Well is he nice?'" Meghan told BBC. For his part, Prince Harry hadn't heard of Meghan Markle until their mutual friend mentioned her name.

Hitting it off instantly, Harry invited Meghan on a trip to Africa just weeks later. "Then we were really by ourselves, which was crucial to me to make sure that we had a chance to get to know each other," Harry said.
