Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano in Tanzania. It is a stratovolcano and has three volcanic cones named “Kibo”, “Mawenzi”, and “Shira”. Although it is dormant, it is possible for it to erupt again. It is the highest mountain in Africa and rises approximately 16,100 feet from its base above sea level. The mountain is part of the Kilimanjaro National park and is a major tourist attraction as well as a mecca for adventurous climbers. The summit was first reached in 1889 by climbers Hans Meyer and Ludwig Purtscheller.
